ServicesWater Testing
Free Water Testing in Youngtown, Number by Number
We come to your home, test the water at the tap and walk you through each number before we leave. You learn what is in your water, what it means, and whether you need any equipment at all. The test is free, with zero obligation.

What a water test tells you
A water test is the cheapest way to stop guessing. Spots on glasses, a chlorine smell, dry skin after a shower, a salesman at the door with a softener brochure. Each of those points to a different cause, and a short test sorts out which one you actually have.
We check the things that drive most filtration choices: hardness, chlorine, total dissolved solids, pH and iron. Then we sit down with you and explain each reading in everyday words. If a number is fine, we say so. If one is high, we tell you which option fixes it, whether that is a water softener, whole-home filtration or a reverse osmosis system under the sink.
Water across the West Valley often runs on the hard side, but hard is a range, not a yes or no. Your own number is what decides what your home needs.

What we check during the visit
- 01
Hardness
Calcium and magnesium are what make water hard. We report the level in grains per gallon. That figure tells us if a water softener is worth buying, and what size it should be.
- 02
Chlorine
Your utility adds a disinfectant so the water stays safe on its long trip through the mains. We read how much of it is left by the time it reaches your faucet, because that leftover is what gives tap water its pool smell and taste.
- 03
Total dissolved solids
TDS is a rough count of everything dissolved in the water. A high reading helps account for flat or salty taste and white crust on fixtures. It also tells us how hard a reverse osmosis membrane would have to work.
- 04
pH and iron
Low pH can be rough on pipes over time. Iron leaves orange or brown stains in sinks and toilets. Both are quick to check, and both change what we would suggest.
- 05
A look at your plumbing
We note where the main line enters, where a system could sit, and whether there is a drain and outlet close by. That way any price we give you later is based on your actual home, not a guess.
- 06
Your readings to keep
You keep the numbers. Compare them with anyone else's, or hold onto them and test again next year to see what changed.
Questions about Water Testing?
Call(480) 906-2640When a water test is worth doing
Chalky buildup on fixtures
That white ring around faucet bases is mineral scale. The same scale collects inside your water heater and dishwasher, out of sight.
Spots that come right back
If glasses and shower doors spot up again right after you clean them, hardness is the usual cause. A test tells you how hard, and that tells you what fixes it.
Tap water tastes like a pool
If you buy bottled water because of the taste, a test shows whether a carbon filter for the whole house or reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink is the better fit.
Stains in sinks or tubs
Orange or brown rings point to iron. Blue-green marks can mean copper coming from the pipes. Both are worth a closer look.
Someone wants to sell you a system
If a company wants to install equipment before testing anything, test first. Then you know whether the problem is real and how big it is.
You just moved in
You may not know what the last owner installed or how old it is. A baseline test tells you where you stand.
How the free water test works
- 1
Call and pick a time
Call us and we set a time that suits you. We ask what you have noticed so we know what to look for.
- 2
We test at the tap
We draw water from your kitchen faucet. If you already have a softener or filter, we also test from a spot before it, so we can compare treated and untreated water.
- 3
We go over every number
We go through each reading, what it means and whether it needs anything. If your water is fine, that is the answer you get.
- 4
Pricing only if you want it
If a system makes sense, we give you installed pricing with every part named. Installs are done by licensed and insured partner plumbers and carry a 5-year warranty on installation and labor. You decide on your own time.
The test is free. Here is what sets a system price
You pay nothing for the visit, and there is zero obligation to buy. If you do choose equipment, install is included with water treatment systems. What a system costs depends on a few things we see during the test and the walk-through.
- How hard your water is
- Harder water calls for a larger softener or more frequent regeneration. A modest reading may mean a smaller unit, or none at all.
- Which problem you are fixing
- Chlorine taste alone is handled differently than hardness plus taste. Fixing one problem costs less than fixing three.
- Where the system goes
- A garage with the main line close by is a simple job. Long pipe runs, tight closets or no drain nearby add parts and time.
- What is already there
- An old softener may need to come out first. Sometimes a plumbing loop is already in place, which saves work.
Water testing questions
Is the water test really free?
Yes. The test is free, with zero obligation. We go through the results with you and you keep the numbers. If you want installed system pricing, we give it, but nobody leans on you to buy.
Is the city water in Youngtown unsafe?
We do not say that. Public water has to meet state and federal rules, and the utility publishes a yearly water quality report. Most of what we find is about hardness, taste and wear on fixtures, not safety. We tell you straight what your numbers show.
Can you test for lead?
Lead is one thing a quick tap test cannot measure reliably. It takes a lab analysis to get a number you can trust. If lead worries you, especially with older plumbing, tell us and we will point you to how to get a proper lab test. If a problem turns up, reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink is one common fix.
Does someone have to be at the house?
Please plan on it. We draw water from an indoor faucet and check where a system could go, usually the garage. It also lets us go over your results with you face to face, which is the reason we come out.
How do I know you will not just push a softener?
Fair question. We show you the hardness number and what it means. When the reading is too low for a softener to earn its keep, you hear that from us, along with what would help instead, if anything. We have 3 five-star Google reviews, and straight answers are how we plan to keep earning them.
